NeilMed sinus rinse bottles are simple gravity-fed rinses that flush the sinuses with saline solution. They're often paired with compounded budesonide or antibiotic additives for chronic sinusitis. This guide covers daily use and adding compounded ingredients.
Step by step.

Use distilled or boiled water
Start with distilled water, sterile saline, or water that's been boiled and cooled to room temperature. Tap water carries a small infection risk for sinus rinses.

Mix the packet
Add one NeilMed packet (or your compounded additive) to the bottle. Cap and shake gently until fully dissolved.

Tilt and squeeze
Lean over the sink, tilt your head sideways, and place the bottle tip in the upper nostril. Breathe through your mouth and squeeze gently. The rinse will flow through the sinuses and out the lower nostril.

Repeat the other side
Blow your nose gently to clear remaining liquid, then repeat on the other side.

Clean the bottle
Rinse with hot distilled water after each use. Air-dry. Replace the bottle every 3 months.
Notes
- Compounded additives must be mixed fresh — don't pre-mix and store unless your pharmacist tells you to.
- Severe symptoms or pain should be evaluated by your prescriber.
